Tulsa Public Schools Skelly Upper Elementary Remodel
Skelly School Remodel is the Largest in Tulsa's History
Tulsa, OK
It’s something that can make or break a student’s entire day.
Hunger.
At Skelly Upper Elementary School in Tulsa, many students once had to wait until past 1 pm to eat lunch due to the cafeteria size. School officials said that’s way too long to wait to eat for many students.
Well, that wait is now over, thanks to a $7 million remodel of the 120,000-square-foot school. It was Tulsa’s largest-ever school remodel project.
A major benefit of the remodel was the expansion of the cafeteria, which can now comfortably accommodate two classes at a time and expedites the lunchtime wait.
The remodel included a full gut of the kitchen and refrigeration and featured new walls, flooring, and ceilings, as well as adding a new loading dock.
It was a huge undertaking and one that needed to be completed in just two months. To make it happen, multiple crews worked seven days a week. Crossland also worked closely with the owner to order and install materials as quickly as possible.
Alternate plans were put in place in case the project couldn’t be completed in two months, but
thanks to outstanding crews and partnership with the owner and engineers, the school was
ready to go for the start of the 2022-2023 school year.
This was a perfect example of achieving the impossible through the power of teamwork and
collaboration.

The Crossland team on TPS Skelly Upper is absolutely amazing. Everyone was blown away with the status of the project on August 8th when teachers returned. None of us expected a job this size, and that bid as late as it did, to be completed on time.
