Tenkiller WTP Phase 1B Expansion

Water Treatment Plants

Park Hill, Oklahoma

Brief Summary

Tahlequah Public Works Authority (TPWA) chose Crossland Heavy Contractors to rehab the Tenkiller water treatment plant in Tahlequah, OK. The Tenkiller plant supplies water to the City of Tahlequah and three other area communities, so plant improvements were very welcome by TPWA management. The renovation expanded drinking water processing and holding capacity from 1.5 million gallons per day to three million. TPWA hopes to capture water from excess rainfall and then treat it to drink.

The rehab included improvements to the existing chemical feed system, plus our team added a new raw water pump, a membrane filtration system, and a high service pump. The new filter and new raw water pump increased the amount of water the plant can produce and provide to the community. Additionally, crews installed a new dome over the existing clarifier to prevent algae growth and constructed a new fluoride chemical feed room.

The project went as designed and planned, with no significant challenges.
