Improved drinking water for years to come
Fredonia, KS
Crossland Heavy was awarded the $21M contract for the drinking water treatment plant project in Fredonia, Kansas. The plant is now a 6.0 million gallons-per-day (MGD) surface water treatment process, split into two parallel 3.0 MGD trains.
The preliminary project scope included repurposing of the old treatment plant raw water intake, coagulation, flocculation and softening systems, gravity filtration, water storage, and high service pumping systems paired with 3 miles of new 12”, 16”, and 18” buried waterlines. Crossland Heavy partnered with Midwest Engineering Group to complete value analysis on this project to lower construction costs by about $2.5 Million, which allowed PWWSD #23 to maintain their construction budget.
These design and construction improvements will serve 20 entities with a population totaling over 12,000 residents of local counties in Kansas for years to come.
