PSU Bicknell Family Center for the Arts

Community

Pittsburg, Kansas

Brief Summary

The Pittsburg State University Bicknell Family Center for the Arts is nothing short of world class, particularly when it comes to the 1,100 seat performance hall.  The 89,600 square foot facility boasts 3,500 square feet of art gallery exhibition space, with workspace for an artist-in-residence and the capability to showcase multiple exhibitions at once. A kitchen and reception space was also part of the design, along with a costume and set design shop, two green rooms, and storage for instruments, risers, and uniforms. There are six dressing rooms, all equipped with two sets of lights that allow actors to use incandescent lighting that matches the stage lighting to check makeup.

PSU has longed for a venue that would allow their students to showcase their talents. With many years of planning and fundraising, that dream has become a reality. Crossland Construction has had the privilege of carrying out millions of dollars in projects for PSU over the years and considers it an honor to have had a hand in this historic project for the university and community of Pittsburg.
