This project involved the construction of a new headworks facility in Broken Arrow, OK, and the demolition of the existing headworks, raw sewage pump station, and screening facility. Crossland Heavy constructed the new facility, which included fine screens and screen handling equipment, raw sewage influent pumping, grit removal system, grit handling equipment, and a new biofilter for odor control, which was previously an issue for the area’s local residents. This project also included electrical and instrumentation additions, yard piping, and grade work.
We delivered this project on schedule, combating the challenges we faced with the biofilter media and new waterline. We accommodated the extra time we were forced to add to our schedule to handle these issues by creating alternative plans within our schedule and working on these additional line items concurrently with the items in the original project schedule. CHC maintained good communication internally to fluidly adapt to the change in the construction sequencing, and we also fostered good communication between the owner and engineer to mitigate the issues when they arose and to guarantee an on-time completion for Broken Arrow.
