Loves Travel Stop 815 – Winona, TX
Showing the Love in Winona, Texas
There are gas stations and convenience stores. Truck stops.
Then there is Love’s Travel Stop in Winona, Texas. They weren’t kidding when they said everything is bigger in Texas.
This place has it all.
More than 110 truck parking spaces, 86 car parking spaces, 25 RV spaces, eight diesel bays, eight showers, laundry facilities, and wait for it… a Godfather’s Pizza AND a Subway. Oh, there’s also a dog park.
Oh my.
This $9.6 million beauty consists of two separate 12,000 SF facilities on a 26-acre development. The project included more than 400,000 SF of paving.
The building exterior features brick and EIFS (exterior insulation and finish system). Inside, the showers and restrooms feature ceramic tile, as does the sales floor.
One of the main challenges was the substantial amount of groundwater, which was well above what was expected based on the soil report. Crossland built a 250-foot double crane road with crane mats to get concrete trucks onto the site.
Sitework was remediated and undercut an additional two feet. Six percent cement stabilization was added at 14 inches deep, backfilled with suitable fill, and final subgrade was stabilized eight inches at 6 percent. Geogrid and baserock were also laid.
The new travel stop added more than 150 jobs to the Winona area and gave truckers a safe place to stop.
