Educare IV
Expanding Education in Tulsa
Tulsa, OK
Since opening in 2006, Tulsa’s Educare program has worked to transform the lives of young children and their families through high-quality early childhood education.
The program has been so successful that Educare has expanded its footprint many times, most recently adding a fourth school next to Celia Clinton Elementary School.
This $15.7 million, 43,000 SF facility features 16 classrooms, multiple training and meeting rooms, a commercial kitchen, and multiple playgrounds and outdoor learning environments.
The exterior finish features EIFS and stone masonry, with a sloped rock wall at the main entrance. A large curtain wall extends from end to end and rises above the rest of the building. Jonesplan built the eight playgrounds with all custom-built playground equipment.
The interior features a custom, hand-painted art wall in the middle of all 16 classrooms. The center also has an intercom speaker system, custom lighting in all classrooms, custom classrooms to suit different age groups, a high-end kitchen, and a community center that can be used for events.
One of the event rooms features a custom aluminum and glass curtainwall on a sliding track handmade in Germany. There is also a large, eye-catching live moss wall at the receptionist desk and a large outdoor courtyard that boasts a waterfall feature inside the main entrance.
This project took place in the heart of the pandemic, which brought on a variety of challenges. Crossland and the owner worked hand-in-hand, often for long hours, to overcome all of the supply chain challenges and finish the project on time and on budget.
Crossland also worked closely with the City of Tulsa on the main road into the facility. The city was originally expected to install the road, but they were unable to because it was on private land. Crossland’s crew stepped up to install the road, and the city agreed to maintain it after it was finished.
Our teams demonstrated exceptional performance throughout this project, dedicating extensive effort and time to ensure timely completion. The project provided valuable learning opportunities for new crew members, allowing them to glean insights that will contribute significantly to advancing their careers.
