The Decatur Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements project was the new construction of a 3-train SBR System that included 4,500 cubic yards of cast-in-place concrete and was self-performed by Crossland Heavy Contractors. This project also included a new headworks facility, ISAM Feed Pump Station, Filter Building, Office Building, and Sludge Press. The major elements to this project included forming and pouring structural concrete, erecting pre-engineered metal buildings, installing all process and wastewater equipment, and laying underground piping, process piping, and chemical piping. The City of Decatur’s next project was delivered as an emergency ordinance to expand their effluent clarification with the addition of an Actiflo unit. This portion of the project included a tight schedule and constant coordination with the engineer and the owner as design was approximately 80% complete when construction began. Crossland Heavy partnered well with the owner and engineer to complete this project on schedule and on budget.
