Expanding CrossWinds Casino: A Seamless 10,000-Square-Foot Addition
Park City, KS
CrossWinds Casino in Park City, Kansas, quickly became a popular destination after its grand opening in March 2021. With 20,000 square feet of gaming space and 500 slot machines, the demand exceeded expectations. To accommodate more guests, CrossWinds partnered with Crossland Construction to expand its facility.
This $4.5 million expansion project added 10,000 square feet of gaming space and 300 additional slot machines, seamlessly integrating with the existing structure. The new addition, located on the south side of the casino, was carefully executed to ensure regular operations remained completely uninterrupted.
Thoughtful Design & Unique Challenges
The exterior of the expansion featured a metal façade with an EIFS front, a vestibule auto-slider entry, and color-changing light fixtures that enhanced the casino’s modern aesthetic. Inside, the new gaming area housed the latest slot machines alongside a small bar for guest convenience.
While the project was largely straightforward, the color-changing lighting system posed an unexpected challenge. The system was originally designed to function via Bluetooth, but due to a technology malfunction outside of our control, it failed upon installation. Rather than leaving the client with a nonfunctional system, our team went the extra mile to completely hardwire the lights, ensuring they worked as intended. This process took nearly a year to resolve, but we remained committed to delivering a high-quality final product.
Additionally, lead times on the dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) units required continuous coordination with distributors. Our proactive communication ensured the owner stayed informed and the project remained on track.
Delivering Excellence
Despite these challenges, Crossland Construction successfully delivered the project on time and within budget, demonstrating our expertise in seamless casino expansions and adaptive problem-solving.
