A New Legacy: BBFI Build Its Future in Springfield, MO
Springfield, MO
The Baptist Bible Fellowship International (BBFI) has opened its new home in Springfield, Missouri, positioning the organization for a future that aims to “far surpass that of its past.”
BBFI is a global fellowship of pastors and a network of preachers, churches, missionaries, and educational institutions. This $6.3 million project delivered a 13,200 SF central office facility, serving as the heart of BBFI’s operations. Additionally, a 5,600 SF shell building was constructed to accommodate future missionary training programs and special events.
Crossland was engaged early in the concept phase, allowing us to guide the owner on the project’s overall size and scope to align with their budget. By identifying the costs of various interior and exterior finish systems, we enabled the design team to meet the owner’s design vision while maintaining cost efficiency.
The central office building features a mix of brick masonry, fiber cement panels, and metal panels for its exterior finishes, with a prominent storefront entrance accented by varying colors of fiber cement panels.
Interior finishes include gyp walls, carpet, and vinyl plank flooring. A standout design feature is the exposed wood trusses throughout, with the interior gallery showcasing 2,750 SF of exposed wood beams and wood decking/ceiling, adding a natural warmth and architectural character.
Unique materials on the project included large glulam beams and exposed roof decking. Glulam, a stress-rated engineered wood beam, is composed of wood laminations (“lams”) bonded with durable, moisture-resistant adhesives, offering both structural strength and aesthetic appeal.
Beyond the structures, site work covered eight acres of improvements, including roads, utilities, and building slabs for future residential multi-family units. These units will serve as housing for retiring missionaries and those traveling through Springfield.
This new facility is a testament to BBFI’s vision and Crossland’s commitment to delivering projects that inspire growth and community impact.
