In the bustling world of construction, individuals like Tim shine bright among the crowd. With an impressive 25-year tenure at Crossland Heavy Contractors (CHC), Tim’s journey epitomizes leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication and faith.
A Leader In The Making
Tim’s journey began with an internship.
“During my evaluation, when Jr. said he was going to put me with Heavy, I had no idea what that meant, but I was excited and ready to go to work. After my 3-month internship, I knew there wasn’t anywhere else I needed to go. I fell in love with the culture and enjoyed the work I was doing. Over time, Crossland felt like a home away from home, and I became part of the family. When people ask if I’d consider moving to another company, I enjoy telling them, ‘Never’, because it doesn’t get any better than Crossland!'”
Starting out as a laborer, Tim’s ascent through various roles, including Carpenter, Pipe Layer, Operator, Foreman, and Field Engineer, showcased his relentless drive for growth and expertise.
Today, as a Project Superintendent, he orchestrates multiple crews with a profound understanding of construction’s intricacies, making him a formidable leader.
For Tim, the true essence of his work lies in the people he collaborates with daily.
“I love the opportunity I get to work with some of the best people in the company each day—those who aren’t always recognized but are vital to the work we do. They are the ones who put the work in place, and I am blessed to see them put their talents to work and the amazing things they build.”
“Tim is a leader in all aspects of his life, always leading by example. He mentors and supports young talent, making sure they start out on the right foot. He pushes people to excel, fostering a culture of growth and success,” says Trace Trummond, CHC Project Manager.
Tim says that, at times, the biggest challenge and reward is managing people’s strengths and weaknesses, so they work together effectively on challenging projects. Bringing everyone together with the same vision and direction is a constant effort, but it leads to the best outcomes for our projects and clients.
The Spavinaw Dam project stands as a turning point in Tim’s career. It was a daunting project. However, it was during this project that Tim felt the full support of management, and that they truly believed in him.
“Tim is a leader in every capacity. Owners and Engineers are ecstatic when they find out Tim is the lead on their project as he is not only pleasant to work with but also puts quality at the forefront,” states Chris Walters, CHC Vice President.
Faith and Purpose
Tim acknowledges that his success is not solely his own but a result of his family’s unwavering support, the mentorship of CHC’s leadership, and his faith in Jesus Christ.
“My wife, Jodi, has been my pillar of support through the early mornings, late nights, and weekend work, making sure our home runs smoothly while I focus on my job. Her unwavering encouragement and support have been instrumental, reminding me that our success is a result of our partnership and love,” says Tim.
Tim’s journey is a testament to the power of dedication, mentorship, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. As Tim continues to lead by example, his legacy inspires others, reminding us that true success lies not only in the projects we build but also in the lives we touch along the way.
