Ivan Crossland, Jr. was recently named a recipient of the Pittsburg State University 2018 Meritorious Achievement Award. The Alumni Association announced the honorees on April 9th and an awards ceremony was conducted on the PSU campus on April 13th. The program recognizes university alumni who have invested in their communities through participation in civic and professional organizations and who have worked to achieve significant professional growth. A Lifelong Dedication
A 1984 PSU graduate, Crossland earned a bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering Technology. He’s been with his family’s company since its inception in 1977. During his tenure, he was named vice president in 1979, and was promoted to president in 1992. He served in this capacity until 2002 when he was named chief executive officer; he continues to serve in this role today. Crossland also sits on the PSU Board of Trustees and on the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee.
“I’m humbled to receive this honor from my alma mater. Pittsburg State promotes the education, growth, and development of their students. Graduates don’t just receive their degrees – we earn them. My dad taught us early in life that hard work is the only way to earn true personal success. To have achieved, together, some degree of professional success is just icing on the cake. I’m proud to be a graduate of PSU. It makes this award mean that much more,” said Crossland.
