Crossland Construction's Nick Penner Named In Wichita Business Journal's '40 Under 40' Honorees
10 July, 2019
We are excited to announce that our very own Nick Penner is in this year's Wichita Business Journal 40 Under 40 Class of 2019. The Wichita Business Journal has been presenting these awards since 1998. Nick joins this elite class of Wichitans who are recognized for their contributions, work, and achievements to make Wichita a better place.
When Crossland's management choose our nominations, we were looking for team members who fit our company culture. Education and experience, paired with drive, a passion for their community, and a desire to see those communities succeed were some of the considerations. Nick Penner was a perfect candidate!
Crossland encourages our employees to get involved in programs that serve the communities we help build. With Nick, no encouragement was necessary – a lifelong resident of Wichita, Nick was already fully invested. Nick demonstrates his outstanding commitment to the Wichita community by his involvement in the Chamber of Commerce, the Historic Preservation Board (appointed by Councilman Bryan Frye), and the Wichita Area Builders Association Commercial Council. He also chaired the Boys & Girls Club Barry Sanders Golf Tournament and served as Secretary of the Board for the Boys & Girls Club of South Central Kansas. Though, his philanthropy shines brightest through his involvement with the Young Professionals of Wichita Community Enhancement Program. For three years, Nick selected 10 area homes annually in need of exterior renovations. He donated his time to develop scopes, procured sponsors and materials, and coordinated the teams to complete these projects – for a total of 30 homes. That kind of dedication is truly inspirational.
From a professional standpoint, Nick was instrumental in the success of the Wichita State University Student Housing facility. The project won an Award of Excellence in the Associated General Contractors of Kansas 2017 Build Kansas awards program.
After residing in Wichita for 38 years, Nick has established himself as an integral part of the cities landscape with unshakable integrity. We are proud to call him one of our own. Congratulations, Nick, on this exceptional award recognition.
