Crossland Makes Varco Pruden's 2016 Hall of Fame
3 May, 2016
Memphis, Texas – Varco Pruden Buildings announced its 2016 Hall of Fame winners, and Crossland Construction Company is among numerous firms to receive the accolade. The awards are given to builders and projects that display unique features and excellence when combining Varco Pruden building systems, products, architectural design, and overall facility usability. Jim Peckham, marketing manager at Varco Pruden, said “This year’s competition produced some impressive examples of the capabilities of our builder network. Our building systems can meet the needs of virtually any commercial or industrial end-use.”
Community Center Serves as Basis for Award
Crossland Construction’s award entry centered around the Bentonville Community Center in Bentonville, Arkansas. Rather than a conventional steel structure, a pre-engineered metal building structure was used, saving the city of Bentonville over $1.2 million. The project actually contains two structures that are joined by one large wall. The aquatics structure is designed to accommodate the high levels of humidity and chlorinated water for both the leisure and competition pools. The building’s exterior is brick, stone, and architectural textured metal panels.
Facility Offers State-of-the-art Features
Additional facility features include a basketball court with a running track, classrooms, a stage, an arts and crafts area, a zero depth entry leisure pool, a lazy river with a water splash structure and two story slide, and an eight lane competitive pool with two 1-meter diving boards and one 3-meter diving board. There is a large cardio/resistance area, as well as a free weight area and a spacious aerobic/dance studio. The center also hosts a library, as well as an open lounge area with a private adult lounge for meetings. A catering kitchen can accommodate functions such as weddings or meetings. Class/meeting rooms are for events; educational classes made available to the community will be held in these rooms as well. The gymnasium can be used for pick-up basketball games, volleyball matches, tournaments, or other activities.
As always, Crossland is proud to contribute to a project like this that enriches the communities in which we work.
