Behind every milestone is a story worth telling.
This is Anthony’s story.
Anthony Brown / Crossland Construction Superintendent
Built in the Field. Proven Over Time.
Anthony Brown didn’t find construction.
He grew up in it.
His dad owned a construction company, and from a young age, Anthony was right in the mix – learning, working, building. It didn’t take long to figure out what he liked.
“I always enjoyed building things,” he says. “And I knew I didn’t want to work in an office.”
That decision set his course.
All in from Day 1
When Anthony joined Crossland Construction Company, there was no easing into the role.
Back in 2001, he was hired as a Superintendent and handed a project on day one.
No long ramp-up. No layers of oversight. Just responsibility.
That’s something that stood out to him early on.
“The freedom you’re given here,” he says. “You’re trusted to do your job without someone always looking over your shoulder.”
That kind of trust and autonomy isn’t handed out everywhere. And it’s not something you should take lightly.
Over the next 25 years, the projects got bigger and more complex.
But the approach stayed the same, own it, figure it out, get it done. And for those just starting out, you’re stepping into a place full of experience – people who are willing to teach, guide, and help you grow if you’re willing to put in the work.

What It Really Takes
Ask Anthony what his job looks like, and he won’t overcomplicate it.
It’s building a plan and making sure you deliver on what you say.
Every week is different, but the focus doesn’t change – developing the schedule, coordinating crews, solving problems in real time, and making sure the job stays on track.
Because what most people don’t see?
“It takes a lot of coordination and communication to build a successful project.”
That’s the difference between a job getting done and getting done right.
Projects That Stick With You
One project stands above the rest.
The BG Products Football Stadium in El Dorado, Kansas.
Not because it was the biggest. But because it meant something.
It was personal.
That’s where Anthony started his life after high school. Where he met his wife. Where relationships were already in place long before the job began.
And the ownership group?
“They were gracious. Appreciative. That’s what inspires people.”
Years later, those relationships are still there.
That’s the kind of impact that goes well beyond the build.
What 25 Years Teaches You
A lot has changed over the years.
Technology alone has transformed the way projects run. When Anthony started, there were no cell phones on jobsites. Now, everything you need is in your hand.
It’s faster. More efficient.
But some things haven’t changed, and never will.
Work ethic.
“You can be taught everything we do in the field,” he says. “But your work ethic and effort -that can’t be taught.”
It’s still the differentiator.
All Business. All the Time.
That’s how his team describes him.
And he’s fine with that.
Anthony leads with a clear expectation: everyone does their part. Everyone works toward the same goal.
But that doesn’t mean going it alone.
He believes in a collaborative approach, where people are respected, ideas are heard, and the team moves forward together.
Because the best projects aren’t built by one person.
They’re built by a team that shows up ready to work.

Grounded Where It Matters
Home is Frontenac.
And when the hard hat comes off, life slows down a bit.
That includes time at the lake. Golf. Fishing. Being around family and friends.
He’s been married for 27 years. Has two kids. A grandson.
It’s the kind of life that stays steady, no matter how fast the job moves.
A Standard Doesn’t Change
Anthony’s approach is simple:
Trust, but verify.
Do the work. Pay attention. Make sure it’s done right.
Because after 25 years, that’s what it comes down to.
Not titles. Not recognition.
Just consistency. Accountability. And doing what you said you’d do.
Every time.
