Martin Torres – The Man Who Never Stops Building

July 22, 2026 | 3 minute read

A construction worker in a yellow safety vest and hard hat smiles while standing on a newly paved sidewalk, surrounded by trees and utility poles.

Martin is the man who proves that hard work, heart and hustle never go out of style.

Martin’s Crossland story began back in 2003. He took a short break a few years later, but came back and has now been here for nearly 15 years. He’s a familiar face on jobsites across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. As a carpenter, no two days are ever the same. One day he’s building forms, the next he’s digging footings or pouring concrete. “Every day is different,” Martin says with a smile. “That’s what I like. I’m always learning something new.”

When Martin first joined Crossland, he admits he was “green.” Construction was all new to him, but that didn’t stop him. “Everybody pushed me,” he says. “They taught me, showed me how to do the work, and helped me get better.” That drive to learn paid off. Martin’s a go-to guy on site, known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and leadership. Over the years, he’s taken company leadership courses, learned to read blueprints, and picked up a long list of skills, everything from operating equipment to finishing concrete.

His teammates describe him as the kind of person who makes everyone around him better: “Martin showed up early, led the crew, and helped us gain time on schedule. He’s always smiling and goes the extra step without being asked,” said Jerry Smith, Superintendent.

Martin’s proudest project? Building the Arvest Ballpark in Rogers, Arkansas. “I’ve never seen something like that before,” he says. “It was hard work, hot days, and long hours, but when you see the finished field, the stands, and all the people enjoying it, that’s the best part.”

For Martin, Crossland isn’t just a workplace, it’s the company that gave him stability, growth, and pride. “This company gave me opportunity,” he says. “It helped me buy my house, pay my bills, and build a good life.”

Off the job, Martin loves to ride horses, travel, and try new foods, especially local favorites like Indian tacos. He hopes to retire in a few years and eventually return to Mexico to be near his grandchildren. But until then, he plans to keep doing what he’s always done, showing up early, working hard, and helping his crew succeed.

Martin, thank you for your loyalty, craftsmanship, and the pride you bring to every project, you make Crossland proud!
