N. Rupple Rd
Fayetteville, AR
The Rupple Road Project in Fayetteville, Arkansas, had a hard-bid contract of $5.5 Million. The scope of this 16-month project included the construction of three main pieces: the roadway, bridge, and retaining wall. The roadway portion included 1,800 linear feet of four-lane roadway realignment and expansion. This roadway would take an awkward three-way intersection that was not conducive to the flow of traffic and replace it with a full four-lane route that would create a smooth transition from Rupple Road at Highway 16 to I-49.
The bridge was a two-span, 184 linear-foot structure. The structure was of variable width – 65 feet at its widest. The bridge also included pedestrian sidewalks with handrails and decorative lamp posts.
Last but not least was the 13,500 square foot, 20-foot tall decorative retaining wall. The wall, which was constructed from patterned and stained redi-rock, boasts a vertical offset and horizontal curve and adds an aesthetic element to the road.
Throughout the entirety of the project, crews installed storm grade pipe, inlets, and 5,400 feet of curb and gutter. A pedestrian-friendly project, the scope also included 4,000 square yards of sidewalk. Crews installed approximately 2,000 feet of fencing, with varieties from privacy to wire fencing. Not to be forgotten was CHC’s dirt work package, which included 13,000 cubic yards of unclassified excavation and 29,000 square yards of topsoil.
Crews began construction in June of 2018 and completed in October of 2019, self-performing 80% of the work.
