WEST 5TH STREET EXTENSION, TULSA, OKLAHOMA

Brief Summary

The West 5th Street Extension project now allows fire truck and light vehicle access to the Aloft Hotel and the new library parking structure.  Crossland Heavy Contractors performed demolition of the existing plaza at 5th and Denver Streets, and extended 5th Street to the west approximately 500 feet.  Doing this placed the new road on top of a parking garage structure.  Therefore, to accommodate the weight of the new road and traffic, 600,000 pounds of structural steel was installed and the existing concrete columns were resized.  The street extension also included stamped and stained concrete work, concrete and stainless steel bollards, new streetlights, and new traffic signals.

Crossland Heavy was always thinking of the next step of the project, what challenges it poised, and how to overcome these challenges in a manner that best suited not only their interests, but also the interests of the owner.  They put forth the extra effort to construct the water treatment plant in a manner that the owner, engineer, and they themselves could all be proud of.
