Edison Preparatory College Counseling Center

Brief Summary

Crossland Construction Company was awarded the contract for the $5.3 million addition to the Edison Preparatory School College Counseling Center.  At 18,000 square feet, the facility’s most notable feature is the 7,400 square foot FEMA tornado shelter.  The shelter area serves as two large lecture classrooms with sloped seating.  It is constructed of concrete walls that are 12 inches thick, with a concrete ceiling that is six inches thick.  The second floor of the structure is home to classrooms, a computer lab, offices, and a conference room.  The exterior façade is primarily glass curtain walls and large porcelain tiles that match the color of the existing, adjoining brick structure.

Project Photos

The aggressive schedule was achieved by Crossland utilizing excellent project management and superior supervision.  Aggressive quality control by the Project Superintendent achieved a building that is over and above what was required by the construction documents.  We have heard nothing but praise for the efforts of Crossland and the staff in the field who produced this new addition to the District.
